Sano Maya

Bio

Many of you will remember Sano Maya who has worked for Ussher Tours/ Insight Himalaya for many years. She has guided on our treks and has also visited UK on several occasions and helped look after Daisy in the early years.

The Damage

When the first Earthquake struck Sano Maya’s house was destroyed and she lost everything including her mobile phone. The only thing she had was her Bible – and written in her Bible was Christopher’s mother’s telephone number – the only telephone number she had. She called her and then Christopher was able to establish contact.

How we helped

Sano Maya came to Kathmandu after Christopher spoke with her and she met with Binod. He was able to assess the situation and we allocated RS 35,000 so she could buy metal sheets and other bits and pieces to build a shelter.
